  • Is there any Winter Add on Fees?

    A winterisation fee is charged in some countries mainly Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France to cover additional equipment that may be required on the vehicle during the winter season.

  • What happens if you lose your Keys?

    If you lose your keys most rental companies charge between £100 and £150 to cover the cost of replacement keys. And or remote control alarm and locking systems.

  • What is a Refundable Excess? Or CDW?

    Certain cars and vehicles may be supplied with an insurance policy that allows you to claim back any excess you may be charged if you accidentally damage the vehicle during the course of your hire.
    Some local suppliers chare an excess locally (When you pickup the car) this may be reclaimed once the vehicle is returned in the condition that you collected it.
    It is very important to point out and have documented any defects in the vehicle at the time of hire. Should you have an accident it is important to obtain a local police report and fill out the relevant accident forms.
    We will then refund the excess upon receipt of the relevant documentation.

  • Excess Insurance Cancellation Policy

    If you have purchased car hire excess insurance from our partner, Questor Insurance you can cancel the policy within the 14 days cooling off period from the date of purchase.

  • Is there any Child and Booster Seat Charges?

    All rental companies charge a daily fee for this. Child restraint seats are required by all countries for children under the age of 5 or less than 40 lbs in weight.

  • Are Additional Drivers Allowed?

    Some companies allow one additional driver free of charge but most make a small charge. Each rental company will be able to advise you of this at time of booking.

  • Is car hire excess cover mandatory?

    Its up to you – But if the vehicle is Lost, Stolen or damaged you may be liable for an excess charge.
    Some companies offer excess cover as part of their package, check their terms and conditions before renting.
    Alternatively car hire excess cover can be purchased through other companies.

  • What does Excess mean?

    Excess is an amount payable to the car hire company that may not be included in the CDW or LDW. Excess cover is available to cover this either locally or may be booked online depending upon supplier.

  • Will my car rental agreement include insurance?

    If you are hiring a car in the UK, Europe, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia your car rental agreement will include cover for: CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), also known as LDW (Loss Damage Waiver), Third Party Liability and Theft.
    There may be an Excess on the CDW and Theft part of the rental agreement, which can be anything between £500 - £2000, (please check the booking T&Cs for full info). Occasionally, car rental providers will offer a ‘zero excess’ policy. However if they do not, you may wish to reduce your excess to zero. You can do this either at the car rental counter when you collect the vehicle or via a 3rd party company such as our preferred partner, Questor Insurance, which can normally end up being up to 60% cheaper than through the rental desk.
    If you are hiring the car in the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and South America, it is generally the case that your car rental will not include insurance. The renter must purchase CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)/LDW (Loss Damage Waiver) and Supplemental Liability Insurance. This is sold at the car rental counter and will cost between US$ 20 and US$30 a day.
    In all cases please read the car hire booking T&Cs for full information on what is and is not included in the rental.

  • How is Payment made for Extras Purchased at time of Hire?

    Child Seats, ski racks, Snow chains, Roof racks or Luggage top boxes will either be payable in advance or locally depending on the supplier.

  • What is a Rental Voucher?

    After booking your car with the chosen supplier you will receive a printable voucher from the supplier. This Voucher or “Ticket” contains all of the important rental information to allow you to find your car hire supplier and to allow you to collect you car. Please note it may take up to 72 hours for you to receive this email.

  • Do I need a credit card or debit card to hire a car?

    Yes, All companies will require a credit card imprint at time of hire to cover any excess charges that may be incurred during the period of hire, Such as Petrol/Diesel, Damage, Loss or Theft.
